Summary of Job Duties:

The Sports Dietician position will oversee the nutritional needs of assigned teams by conducting individual and team nutrition education and counseling to ensure optimal wellness and sport performance. The Sports Dietician will collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, strength coaches and other support staff as a part of sport specific performance team to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to student-athlete well-being.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a related area

  • Registered Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and RD eligible in the state of Arkansas

  • Experience working within a collegiate setting including the knowledge of NCAA, SEC and institution rules as is relates to position

  • Experience working with weight restricted athletes such as gymnastics, swim and dive, cheer, etc., either at the collegiate or professional level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years working in collegiate athletics

  • Graduate degree in nutrition, exercise science or other related field

  • Experience working with athletes with eating disorders/disordered eating habits

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent counseling skills

  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills

  • Ability to manage confidential information in professional manner

  • Ability to connect with student-athletes and coaches

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before both internal and external groups
