Summary of Job Duties:

The office of International Students and Scholars offers a graduate assistantship on the Engagement Team to enhance the experience of international students and scholars and the NWA community through programs that bring people together for meaningful cultural interactions. . The Engagement Team is responsible for the International Culture Team (ICT), iFriend Program, Conversation Club, and International Education Week organization. The International Culture Team (ICT) brings the world to the campus and community through presentations, demonstrations and performances for children and adults. The iFriend Program introduces American families, singles, and students with international students and scholars for an informal friendship through social visits to exchange cultures. . The Conversation Club is an 8-week program designed to improve the conversational English of international students & scholars in a casual, friendly setting. The Engagement Team also coordinates the campus-wide International Education Week. The Engagement GA’s primary job will be to provide leadership and support for these programs.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Enjoying a fast-paced work environment and having a passion for international education is fundamental.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Be admitted to and planning to enroll in at least 6 credit hours in a graduate degree program at the University of Arkansas for the Fall 2026 semester

  • Have authorization to be employed in the United States up to 20 hours per week

  • Have at least a 2.85 grade point average on all courses taken for graduate credit each semester of appointment, though departments and programs may have higher grade point average requirements

  • Have a flexible schedule and availability to work events in the evening and on weekends

  • Be available to schedule work hours to coincide with Assistant Director of Engagement

  • Have computer skills in a PC environment using Microsoft Office and Adobe software

  • Possess intercultural communication skills to be able to work with students from a variety of different countries and cultural backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in promoting programs and events through social media and print media

  • Experience organizing/coordinating programs

  • Two-year commitment to GA if agreeable with supervisor

  • Experience teaching and training

  • Experience with applications helpful in program management (i.e. Excel, Canva, etc.)

  • Experience in leadership and teamwork

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience; Master's student $19,260 or PhD student $23,100
