Summary of Job Duties:

The Network Security Engineer provides senior-level operational and project support for systems associated with the university’s network security and network authentication infrastructure. The Network Security Engineer will work closely with the Network Enterprise Systems team lead, Director of Infrastructure Systems, and the information Technology Security team to achieve a campus goal of a highly available and reliable network by securing the network from interruption. Job responsibilities for this position will be to operate, develop and grow the network security environment in a collaborative team environment with individual system responsibilities assigned as needed in support of strategic goals.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least four years of formal IT-related job experience

  • At least two years designing and implementing network security solutions

  • At least five years of experience using Palo Alto

  • At least two years of experience using Azure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related from an accredited institution of higher education

  • An advanced degree in any field, such as a master’s degree

  • Master's degree in information technology degree

  • Experience with deploying and supporting Network Access Control (NAC)

  • Network Security certification from a leading technology vendor that displays proficiency in network security concepts; JNCIS, PCNSA, PCNSE or equivalent

  • A network certification from a leading technology vendor in a specialization, such as data center, network security, virtualization, or equivalent

  • At least four years of IT experience in a formal role related to enterprise network security

  • IT-related work experience in higher education

  • IT-related work experience in a large enterprise of 1000+ employees

  • Experience with Microsoft Development Ops

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail skills

  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and networking products as required

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Salary Information:

$67,909 - $84,886 Commensurate with education and experience
