Summary of Job Duties:

Graduate Assistant- GSIE Graduate Student Support – Office of Graduate Student Support

The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for:
1. Assisting in the planning and coordination of events and workshops pertinent to the graduate student experience as students encounter various aspects related to professional development, community building, academic engagement, and mental health and wellness.
2. Creating and designing flyers, promotional items, weekly newsletters, bulletin boards, etc. While helping to manage the Graduate Student Support email, mini food pantry, and various programs the office oversees.
3. Acting as a team member for Office of Graduate Student Support to collaborate on other duties, as needs arise.
4. Must be available to work some nights and weekends to execute GSIE events and workshops

The Graduate Assistant will report to the Director of Graduate Student Support for the Graduate School and International Education, who will help the Graduate Assistant establish goals for the program and will provide leadership and guidance as needed to ensure the success of the program.

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours a week. The GA will perform duties at the Graduate School, as well as elsewhere on campus, as needed, to meet the goals of the program.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an earned bachelors degree and be admitted to the Graduate School

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ideally, experienced with and knowledge of working with first-generation, underrepresented, and international students

  • Knowledge or background in understanding student success initiatives

  • Robust detail orientation and organization skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills


Additional Information:

Seeking a late May start date but open to a later start date.

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience; Master's student $19,260 or PhD student $23,100
