Summary of Job Duties:

The Student Success Graduate Assistant (GA) serves as a coach supporting the Fulbright College Student Success team in student engagement and outreach efforts. In this role, the GA works directly with current students through emails, text messages, in-person meetings, and campus events to foster connection and promote academic success. Outreach initiatives include creating engaging communications and personalized materials, such as time management strategies and study plans, to encourage strong response rates and guide students throughout their academic journey. The coach also provides clear information about student success programming and campus resources, ensuring students are aware of the support available to them. Collaboration is a key component of the position, with the GA building and maintaining relationships with instructors, advisors, and student support staff, and meeting regularly with faculty and staff to coordinate targeted outreach for courses with high DFW (D, F, Withdrawal) rates. Ongoing tracking and analysis of outreach efforts help assess effectiveness and inform continuous improvement strategies.


Duties & Responsibilities:

· Assist in planning and implementing student engagement and outreach initiatives.
· Conduct proactive outreach to current students through email, text messaging, and in-person interactions to support academic success.
· Plan and implement sessions with current students to promote independent time management and study skills.
· Provide accurate information to students about academic support programs, campus resources, and other student success services.
· Maintain an accurate and complete record of communications and interventions with students.
· Participate in meetings with instructors and staff to identify and support students in high DFW (D, F, Withdrawal) courses.
· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, advisors, and student support staff to coordinate outreach efforts.
· Track outreach response activity and student engagement data; assist in evaluating effectiveness and recommending improvements.
· Know and comply with University FERPA, Sexual Harassment, and confidentiality guidelines.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: 4-year degree

  • Enrollment in a graduate degree program at the University of Arkansas

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel (email, documents, spreadsheets)

  • Availability to work 20 hours per week during the academic year with minimal interruptions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a graduate program with a focus on fine arts, humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences

  • Experience in student support, tutoring, mentoring, or peer education roles

  • Familiarity with academic success strategies (time management, study skills, goal setting, etc.)

  • Experience creating educational or promotional materials

  • Experience working with student data or tracking systemsKnowledge of campus academic support resources and services

  • Experience collaborating with faculty or academic departments
