Summary of Job Duties:

In support of Walton Career Connections, the Associate Director for Internships and will oversee the administration of undergraduate and graduate student internships including internships for credit. Administration of internships and experiential learning includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the application process for domestic and international internship courses, manage and lead the Internship preparatory courses, develop programs and workshops for internships, and correspondence with employers regarding internship expectations. The Associate Director will be responsible for working with the Career Consultants to track and manage data related to students participating in the internship experience and companies hiring students for internship opportunities. In coordination with the Senior Director for Career Services, the Associate Director will develop strategies to grow opportunities for students in diverse industries and locations, ensuring alignment with academic and career goals.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position will require office hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, with in-person support of programming/events during office hours and occasionally nights and weekends.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, education, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • A minimum of four years of work experience in corporate functions (e.g., finance, accounting, marketing, CPG, etc.) or relevant experience in career coaching and/or advising or recruiting for these industries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students, alumni, and recruiters

  • Demonstrated knowledge of job search and process management.

  • Proficiency with pivot tables in Excel for data analysis

  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and/or Career Services platforms (e.g., Handshake, VMock, etc.)

  • One year working with students in a higher education environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Deep knowledge of career fields within business education (specifically within Accounting and Finance; Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain Management and CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods); Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship; Economics and Information Systems; and MBA and Specialty Master’s Programs)

  • Exceptional resume writing, interviewing and job search skills

  • Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, and excellence in oral and written communication

  • Must be able to develop effective presentations and speak confidently to large audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, to listen actively, to adapt to changing situations, and to coach and motivate others

  • Highly proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)

  • Must be able to provide in-person support of programming/events during office hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and occasional evenings and weekends, less than 10 evenings or weekends a semester
