University Recreation + Wellness at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for a Assistant Director of Facilities & Auxiliary Operations to help them achieve their mission to empower students for success through recreation and wellness. This is an exciting time at UREC + Wellness as we prepare to complete the renovation of the HPER building.
The Assistant Director of Facilities and Auxiliary Operations directly oversees the daily operations of all UREC Auxiliary Facilities, including the maintenance and operations within. Staff responsibilities include two full-time staff, and 60+ student staff members. Additional responsibilities include the creation, enforcement and execution of facility policies and procedures, proper risk management practices and maintenance.
Responsibilities
60% Facility Operations- Direct the financial, operating, and personnel procedures for the operation of all UREC Auxiliary Facilities, including but not limited to UREC Fitness Center, Tennis Center and Sports Complex. Duties include the development and management of budgets, facility operating policies and scheduling protocols, long range planning, and leading facility operations and maintenance personnel. Develop, supervise, and evaluate 2 full-time staff members and 20+ student staff. Develop policies and procedures within facilities.
40% Admin- Oversee comprehensive participation and program records for activity, semester, and annual reporting. Create and implement short- and long-term goals in facility assessment, learning outcomes, strategic planning, objectives and key results, and other departmental initiatives. Be knowledgeable with program and departmental software application and website maintenance. Assess risk management and maintain program compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, higher education, or related field.
- Two years demonstrated experience in university/collegiate recreational sports or facility operations.
- Supervisory experience of staff
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in higher education, recreation, sports management or related field
- Experience with campus recreation software.
- Experience with equipment repair and maintenance protocols.
- Experience managing indoor and outdoor recreational collegiate and/or recreational facilities.
- Experience completing capital purchases and facility renovations.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of facility equipment and preventative maintenance programs. Knowledge of membership and facility management software.
- Knowledge of risk management procedures
- Knowledge of field equipment and maintenance needs.
- Ability to monitor and forecast budgets.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments, deadlines, and tasks.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to teach, delegate, and evaluate staff and peers.
- Ability to obtain Red Cross CPR/FA/AED Instructor Certification.
- Ability to articulate a foundational understanding of social justice and inclusion within the context of higher education.
- Ability to create environments that foster equitable participation of all groups while seeking to address and acknowledge issues of oppression, privilege, and power.
- Has a sense of their own agency and social responsibility that includes others, their community, and the larger global context
Salary Information
Salary starts at $56,123. Commensurate with education and experience.
