University Recreation + Wellness at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for a Coordinator of Facilities & Auxiliary Operations to help them achieve their mission to empower students for success through recreation and wellness. This is an exciting time at UREC + Wellness as we prepare to complete the renovation of the HPER building.
The Coordinator of Facilities & Auxiliary Operations oversees the day-to-day operations and management of all auxiliary facilities, including the UREC Fitness Center, UREC Tennis Center, and UREC Sports Complex. This role manages facility reservations, ensuring all spaces are safe, functional, and ready for use. The coordinator directly supervises a team of over 40 student employees, ensuring adherence to risk management policies, event coordination, customer service, transaction processing, and facility inspections. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and user experience of all auxiliary facilities
Responsibilities
Facility Operations-70%-
Oversee the operations of the UREC Fitness Center, UREC Sports Complex, and UREC Tennis Center. Lead the development, supervision, and evaluation of over 40 student staff members. Key responsibilities include managing risk, budgeting, developing facility policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with maintenance and preventative maintenance standards, transporting equipment between locations, following university protocols, and managing capital equipment purchases.
Admin-30%-
Develop and enforce policies and procedures within facilities including program and staff manuals. Maintain comprehensive maintenance, participation and program records for activity, semester, and annual reporting. Assess risk management and maintain program compliance. Assist in the preparation and monitoring all income and expenses for all indoor and outdoor facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management, higher education, or related field.
- One year experience in recreation, collegiate/recreational sports, or facility operations.
- Experience supervising part-time staff
Preferred Qualifications
- A master's degree in recreation, sport management, higher education, or related field.
- Two years’ experience in recreation, collegiate/recreational sports, or facility operations.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of best practices in recreation and indoor/outdoor facility management
- Knowledge of tennis court, building, and artificial turf preventative maintenance
- Skilled in organization and time management
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to balance heavy project load and information from different groups
- Ability to prioritize and meet stated deadlines
- Knowledge of facility management software
- Knowledge of risk management procedures
- Knowledge of maintenance guidelines and procedures
- Ability to teach, delegate, and evaluate staff and peers
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, including instructor certification
- Ability to articulate a foundational understanding of social justice and inclusion within the context of higher education.
- Has a sense of their own agency and social responsibility that includes others, their community, and the larger global context.
Salary Information
Salary starts at $46,382. Commensurate with education and experience.
