APN/PA Surgical Assistant Position
Job description- This position will work with a team of surgeons and will assist in the Operating Room as an APN/PA Surgical Assistant and perform additional APN/PA duties as assigned. This position will also be required to be on a rotating call schedule for surgical emergencies.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include any and/or all of the following:
- APN/PA in state of Arkansas Experience in Surgical Services (OR, ASC, OR assistant/Scrub)
- Assists with patient care management; provides follow-up care to patients; updates physicians and surgeons on patients’ status.
- Keeps informed of inpatients’ progress by attending daily rounds; documents progress in medical record charts; interacts with home health agencies.
- Completes patients' comprehensive health history summary and physical examinations.
- Assists with pre-operative and post-operative care for patients.
- Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care. Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) and state regulatory standards.
- Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality and Standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.
- Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Cooperates with maintaining and submitting bariatric patient clinical information as required by SRC through BOLD enabled software that maintains HIPAA compliance, as well as participating in maintaining follow up on long tern bariatric surgical patients.
- Performs other duties as required.
