Summary of Job Duties:

The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as a key member of the Center for Community Engagement team, supporting the department’s mission to foster student involvement in community service and civic engagement. This position is the primary support contact of the university’s volunteer management platform, GivePulse. This position will assist external individuals, groups, and organizations with the onboarding, implementation, and use of GivePulse for their volunteer needs. This position will also advise the Service Engagement team (previously Student Engagement) of the Volunteer Action Center to support their mission of connecting University of Arkansas students to volunteer opportunities in the Northwest Arkansas community. The Community Outreach Coordinator will also provide administrative and functional support to CCE; including content research and creation for the departmental social media channels and website.

The coordinator will also serve on department and division committees as needed and perform other duties as assigned to achieve organizational goals. This position will assist with all department events including student programs, service engagement events, student development, orientation and onboarding of student leaders and staff. The position requires limited evening/weekend hours.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience in college student programming, community outreach, volunteer management, or a related area

  • Experience with facilitating student leadership

Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, higher education, public administration, social work, or other fields from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience supervising, advising, and mentoring college students

  • Experience working with planning and assessing student programming

  • Experience managing budgets and writing grants

  • Moderate proficiencies working in higher education platforms such as CampusGroups, GivePulse, and Blackboard

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficient knowledge and skill using computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Well-developed customer service skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple tasks

  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills

  • Role requires flexibility in scheduling to support student and community partner needs

  • Has a teamwork and collaborative mentality, while also being able to work independently

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events and student meetings

  • Ability to establish and maintain filing and other record keeping systems

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment

  • Ability to analyze documents to determine compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures


Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.


Salary Information:

$43,923 (Commensurate with education and experience)
